On 3rd and 4th November students of 1st, 2nd and 3rd of ESO attended a performance of a play of Sherlock Holmes in English at Escorxador Theatre Lleida.
The play was TheHound of The Barskervilles.

The Big Challenge Contest.

The student DANIEL MAÑANET NAVAL 1st ESO was the winner of the province in the competition The Big Challenge, in English. This competition involves schools from different countries like Germany, France and Sweden with a large group of students.
Our center took part:
1st ESO 17 students classified as follows; 1st place in the province: Daniel Mañanet Naval 2nd Maria Mañanet Naval, Alba Giralt Calvet, 5th Chem Benet Navarro, Jon Mañanet 7th Naval Ester 9th and 10th Ariadna Gil Navarro Bañeres Puñet.
2n d'ESO:17 students classified in the 5th position : Carla Keaveny Rúbies.
3rd ESO: 18 students ranked in 10th position: Albert Gomez Terés.
4th ESO: 18 students classified in 5th position: Cao Julia Sanchez
Silvia Babot Pereña, 2nd Batx student has been ranked second in the final of the English Competition of Catalonia, Fonix 2014 held in Barcelona on April 26 and was home to the best students of English of Catalonia.

The competition is supported by the Secretariat General of the Department of Education Educational Policy of the Government of Catalonia as an activity organized within the framework of social action initiatives environment and activities towards the ultimate Plan and the promotion of English to Catalan schools.
The competition aims to complement the plans to improve the English language in schools of Catalonia and is organized with the aim of stimulating and motivating learning this language, given its importance to society.
The students of 1st Batx had the opportunity on Tuesday 17 February to learn though Greenland thanks to the explanations and experiences of Professor Jens Edgede Bjarnholt who was born in Nuuk, the capital.
The talk of Professor Bjarnholt, was in English and get to know his country through photographs, anecdotes and stories. Students could make a "trip" to these distant lands and delve into Inuit culture and Viking.
Greenland is a country of 2,166,008 km2 and a population of 56,000 inhabitants of which 16,000 live in Nuuk. The country has been inhabited by Inuit for 4,500 years and the Vikings from 1000 years BC, and was Danish colony until 1953. It is a land of great natural resources where people live mainly from fishing, hunting, mining, oil industry and tourism.
The students enjoyed their explanations and were willing to travel to these distant lands.
PRIZE COMPETITION ENGLISH "FONIX"

Silvia Babot Pereña, 2nd Batx student has been classified in the first test of the territorial English Competition of Catalonia Fonix 2014 and now runs the absolute final to be held in Barcelona in May.
The prize for the winners is a stay in a English speaking country for 10 days.
From here we send our congratulations and encourage you to continue with many successes.
Exchange High-school Guindàvols Hellenstein-Gymnasium (Germany)

Every year, our center has conducted an exchange with Hellenstein Gymnasium Heidenheim city in the region of Baden-Wiirtenberg. Students 3rd ESO were traveling to there the month of december. They had visited Stuttgart, Ulm, Munich and the Museum of Science. This week we received the German students who joined the class sessions of the center, in addition to visiting the Seu Vella, take a tour of our city, as well as Barcelona and Tarragona.
This year the exchange has as its focus the "German-Catalan Recycling" presented by our delegates to the IV Conference mediambentals Catalan Youth "Take care of the Planet" in Central Park Valles Sabadell.
CONTEST "THE FONIX"

On Saturday the students of the Centre participated in the regional phase of the 7th English Competition of Catalonia "The Fonix."
The competition is supported by the General Educational Policy Department of Education as an activity organized within the framework of social action and environment activities towards excellence and Promotion Plan English language schools in Catalonia. Organized with the aim of stimulating and motivating learning this language, given its impotancia in today's society.
On April 26 will be held the final stage. Students who participated in the Centre is:

IRELAND. A VISIT THROUGH THE COUNTRY.

Last week students of 1st Batxillerat had the opportunity of hearing in English Flavia O'Callaghan who gave a lecture on Ireland, the country, the traditions, the geography and culture.It was an insight in the country; in a way students could have a shade of a cultural reality of another European country . It was a very interesting experience.
